Seaside Climate Action

On the 6th and 7th of December, I had the opportunity to participate on the 2nd International Youth Climate Summit organized by YHO and Sustainaware. The event was held in Protoroz, Slovenia. There, I had the chance to network with many professionals from many fields with the common goal of fighting climate change and youth advocacy.

On the first day, I had the chance to meet the participants, trainers and moderators of the summit. The workshops were the highlight of the event. One of them was an environment – themed Escape Room where the objective was to solve the final puzzle using sustainability – themed clues, learning along the way facts about sustainability and the environmental impact of our everyday goods and the food that we eat. For me, the game was an interesting challenge and makes you think outside the box.

We also had the chance to talk about Eco-Anxiety where we were introduced into the topic, had a discussion on it and had some general insights, we also had the chance to brainstorm coping strategies.

On the second day, I had the chance to lead a discussion table.  It was exciting to moderate a session, gain output from the other participants and have a productive discussion. Afterwards, we presented the results to the audience and the next steps forward.

Overall, this Summit was a thrilling and insightful experience. The input of the participants and our networking afterwards is what made it memorable.  Also, as part of Sustainaware’s Youth Technical Advisory Board, I had the chance to represent the group at the event.  What I will take from this event is that sustainability and reasonable consumption is what matters when it comes to mitigating climate change.
