Sustainaware: Climate Action Going Digital Through Multisectoral Synergies and Learning Innovation

Aim and Goals

The Sustainaware project aims to involve young people in this multisectoral initiative through a non-siloed approach. This collaboration will generate new ideas and strategies, leading to innovative solutions to environmental problems and bringing about long-term impact.
By supporting youth, building their skills and knowledge, and strengthening opportunities for their engagement, we ensure that future generations can enjoy a healthy and sustainable environment.

Our Goals:
  • Establish an International Network: Formally organise Sustainaware to create a robust, global network.
  • Raise Awareness: Sensitise at least 10 organisations about the Sustainaware project and the importance of cross-sectoral climate action.
  • Develop Resources: Create materials and guidelines to promote cross-sectoral cooperation and organisational learning, enhancing the Sustainaware network’s impact.
  • Innovative Learning Experiences: Design a digital escape room to provide experiential learning on cross-sectoral climate action for youth.
  • Supportive Learning Tools: Develop a learning toolkit and a resource database to complement the digital escape room and facilitate the learning process.
  • Curriculum Integration: Develop recommendations for incorporating the digital escape room activity into formal educational curricula.
  • Youth Engagement: Involve young people in co-creating all project deliverables by establishing a Youth Technical Advisory Group, hosting at least one consultation event, and conducting six capacity-building workshops.
  • Promote Project Results: Disseminate the outcomes of the project to a wider audience through various communication channels and initiatives.

Project Description

The project is a pioneering initiative that combines education, awareness-raising, and tangible societal impact on climate change, sustainability, and environmental health from a youth perspective with a digital dimension. Primarily focused on the EU, our goal is to empower youth organisations with the skills and knowledge needed for effective cross-sectoral collaboration in addressing climate crises.

We aim to create a collaborative space where organisations from youth, health, environmental, and digital sectors can enhance the quality and relevance of their work through multisectoral cooperation.

Key Objectives

  • Establish the international Sustainaware network
  • Sensitise organisations and youth to cross-sectoral environmental health
  • Promote climate action
  • Develop materials and guidelines for cooperation and organisational learning
  • Design a digital escape room for experiential learning
  • Create a supportive resource database to aid in the learning process

Youth Technical Advisory Board

The Youth Technical Advisory Board (YTAB) will take the lead in designing the digital escape room and will also contribute to the development of supporting materials such as an educational pack and facilitation guidelines to enrich the escape room learning experience.

The Board includes 15 highly motivated young people from 14 different EU and neighbouring countries.

Results

The project will produce a comprehensive educational pack for organisations, including materials and guidelines on cross-sectoral collaboration in the fields of sustainability and climate change.

Additionally, we will develop a digital escape room accompanied by a learning toolkit and a supportive resource database. We will also produce recommendations on integrating the facilitated digital escape room experience into formal education, ensuring its effective implementation and widespread impact.
